  • Sea World Trainer Released From Hospital After Orca Push

    Saturday, January 3, 2009
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - A Sea World trainer is out of the hospital after being treated for minor injuries suffered when she was knocked off a wall by a killer whale.

A Sea World spokeswoman says the 35-year-old trainer was taken to a UC San Diego hospital where she was treated for injuries to her head and side.

Park officials say Orkid, a 59-hundred-pound whale, was getting her weekly sonogram when she knocked the trainer off a low wall. A park spokesman says it's unclear if the whale intended to head-butt the trainer or accidentally bumped into her.

Last November, Orkid grabbed a trainer and pushed him under water during a show.
