  • Marineland Orca Dies

    Saturday, November 6, 2004
NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO – Marineland has lost a second killer whale in less than three months.

Hudson, a six-year-old orca, was found dead in Friendship Cove Oct. 20. “Our staff found him that morning,” said Marineland spokeswoman Ann Marie Rondinelli.

The park’s marine mammals undergo regular health examinations and Rondinelli said Hudson’s most recent blood work did not show any irregularities.

“It was very unexpected because he showed no signs of illness.”

The death came just two months after Neocia, a 12-year-old killer whale, was found dead in her pool.

A necropsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
